The National Association of Small and Medium-Size Business (NASMB) was established in Sofia on 17.06.2000 as an NGO under the Persons and Family Act. NASMB was pre-registered on 04.04.2002 in compliance with the NGO Act.
NASMB mission is to facilitate, support and promote the establishment of a favorable business environment for small and medium businesses development and to raise their competitiveness. In carrying out its mission, NASMB represents its members in the dialogue with central and local authorities and facilitates partnerships with all government institutions and other related NGOs and organizations. NASMB also provides a wide variety of services to its members as management training, information services, marketing research, elaboration of business plans and investment projects, tax, accounting and legal consultations, advice on capital and credit access etc.
NASMB management has signed agreements with the State Insurance Co. and banks. According to this the NASMB-Member Companies can get beneficiation when they close Contracts for Insurance of Buildings, Equipment, etc. An agreement has also been signed with the Bulgarian Association for Export Insurance and with the Centre for Economic Development for the development of an Interned-based electronic data-base containing information on SMEs in Bulgaria as part of ECON.BG, Bulgaria's economic site, as well as for the materialization of joint projects within the scope of activities of both organizations. Agreements are soon to be concluded with the State Savings Bank, Euro-bank and other financial institutions for easier access to micro-loans of SMEs-members of NASMB, with Sofia France Auto Ltd. and others.
At present, NASMB members are regional associations, branch associations /as collective members/, small and medium-size companies and physical persons. NASMB member companies are in the sphere of agriculture, food industry, telecommunications light industry, construction machine building, trade, tourism, services, advertising etc. NASMB has regional structures in Sofia, Plovdiv, Haskovo, Varna, Burgas, Dobrich, Pleven, Vratza, Jambol, Asenovgrad, Hissarja, Karlovo, Kurdjali, Sliven and Pazardjik. We negotiated about establishing other regional members in Razgrad, Stara Zagora, Veliko Tarnovo, Kazanluk and Smoljan. The Union has already established its first branch associations - National Union of the Small and Medium Sized Cable TV operators and the Independent Association of the Local Video-Distributors. Since Sept 2001 the Independent National Milk producing Farmers-Association is also Member of the NASMB.
With its mission, aims, goals and structure NASMB is similar to small and medium business associations in the West European countries and in North America.
NASMB successfully cooperates with the Agency for Small and Medium-scale Companies, the Center for Economic Development, the Employers' Union, the Association for Industrial Capital, the Center for Development of Entrepreneurship, the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and other NGOs. Due to the functions of his Chairman the NASMB is represented in the Credit-Council of the Encouragement Bank and in the Council for Euro-Communications by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The International Activities of the Union are oriented to strengthening the business-contacts to similar Business-Associations in Western Europe, North America and on the Balkans.
Internationally, NASMB has contacts with similar organizations all over the world
